Which method should I use to issue stamps?

There are five ways to issue stamps. The Code Generator suits most businesses, the Kiosk suits busy venues, the Control Panel suits a front desk, printed codes are essential for Digital Passport programs, and Store PINs are a backup.

Flex Rewards gives you five ways to issue stamps. You can use more than one, and you can change at any time.

The short answer

Method Best for
Code Generator Most businesses. Any device, and several stamps in a single scan.
Customer Kiosk Busy venues. Customers help themselves, no staff involvement.
Control Panel A front desk, where staff serve customers by name.
Printed codes Digital Passport programs, where each venue needs its own code.
Store PINs A backup, for when nothing else is available.

How to choose

Do your customers buy several things at once, or do you reward by amount spent? Use the Code Generator. It is the only method that issues more than one stamp in a single scan, so “a stamp for every $10” works properly.

Is your counter too busy for staff to operate a device? Use the Customer Kiosk. Leave a tablet displaying a code and customers scan it themselves. The code refreshes automatically so it can’t be copied.

Do staff serve customers one at a time and know them by name? Use the Control Panel. Staff can look someone up, add or remove stamps, redeem a reward and register new customers, all from a browser.

Are you running a Digital Passport across several venues? Use printed codes. Each venue displays its own printed code, which is what makes a multi-venue passport work — and it’s why printed codes remain essential for these programs.

Nothing else available? Store PINs let you type a 4-digit code onto the customer’s phone. It’s a backup rather than a day-to-day method.

Why printed codes issue only one stamp

A printed code never changes, so it could be photographed and reused. What stops that is the repeat-scan waiting period: the same customer can only earn a stamp once per window, which is 12 hours by default. Ask us and we’ll change it to whatever suits your business.

The waiting period applies however the stamp is issued — generated codes, the kiosk, the Control Panel and Store PINs all check it. No method skips it.

What the Code Generator changes is the number of stamps in a single scan: up to 20, so a large purchase is one scan worth six stamps rather than six scans. That’s stamps per scan, not scans per customer.

A generated code is protected differently again — each one is single-use. Once it has been scanned it is spent, so a photograph of the screen is worth nothing.

If a customer says a stamp wasn’t added, see why wasn’t my stamp added.
