Retail & Shops
Plenty of people come in. Far fewer come back on purpose.
Boutiques, gift shops, bookshops, bike shops, pet shops, convenience and specialist retail. Visits are weeks apart and baskets vary wildly, so a card that counts visits rewards a browser and ignores your best customer. Count what they spend instead.

Your day, not ours
Where the problem actually sits — and what answers it
A four-pound basket and a hundred-and-forty-pound basket are not one stamp
One generated code carries up to seven stamps or more, decided at the moment you issue it — so a stamp can represent a spend band rather than a visit. One per twenty pounds, issued in a single scan at the till, means the customer who actually spends is the customer the card rewards.
Weeks between visits, and a paper card has to survive all of them
In a bag, in a coat that goes to the dry cleaner, in a drawer. A digital card lives on the phone your customer is holding to pay you, and the all-time stamp count sits on their member record — so neither of you has to remember where the card got to.
You serve people for years and never learn who they are
Joining puts a name, email, mobile number, birthday and join date on a member record you can search in the Control Panel by any of them. There is a free-text notes field on the same record, which in a shop is where "rides a 54cm frame" or "collecting the Folio editions" belongs.
Nothing should need installing behind the counter
The Code Generator runs in a browser on the phone or tablet you already have, and issues a single-use code — once it is scanned it is spent. There is no reader to buy, no integration to wait for, and four-digit store PINs exist as a backup for the day a device is flat.
A second shop should not mean a second program
Each device is bound to a location when it is set up, so stamps are attributed to the shop that issued them while the customer carries one card for both. Customers see every location on a map in their own app, which is how the second site gets discovered by the first site's regulars.
A reward eleven visits away is not a reason to come back this month
Rewards can unlock along the way — a discount at three stamps, something better at eight — and they can carry an expiry date, so there is a reason to use one rather than sit on it. Retail's problem is never awareness, it is occasion.
Fewer trips, so each one has to count for more
The British Retail Consortium’s footfall monitor for 2025, published with Sensormatic in January 2026, reported total UK footfall down 0.8% across the year, with December down 2.9% year on year — the eighth consecutive month of decline. Sensormatic’s Andy Sumpter noted the fall was across all shopping locations and the major cities alike.
That is an aggregate number and not a claim about your shop. But it describes the trading condition most independent retailers are actually in: not fewer customers so much as fewer trips, made more deliberately. A loyalty card is one of the few things that makes a trip deliberate.
What to set up
Retail is the clearest case for the Code Generator, because retail is the trade where the amount matters. It is the only method that can issue several stamps in one code, which is what lets you tie stamps to spend rather than to a visit — a printed one-stamp code simply cannot express “one per twenty pounds”.
Run it on the device at the till. Each code is single-use, so there is nothing static for anybody to photograph. And because one code can carry several stamps, a bigger basket is one scan rather than a queue of them.
Set the repeat-scan time-out to suit how often you expect the same customer back. Twelve hours is the shipped default and it is too long for a shop someone might visit twice in a day — ask us and we will set it to whatever you want.
The Control Panel is the other half of it, and for a shop it is the more interesting half — searchable members, editable records, stamp progress with the reward positions marked, and stamps you can remove as well as add.
Not your trade?
There are six others
Each one is written the same way — the problem as that business actually experiences it, and the part of the product that answers it.
