How do I get told when a customer earns a reward?
Custom Alerts tell you the moment a customer completes a card, earns a reward or reaches a milestone — with their name and contact details, so you can do something about it while they're still standing there.
Most loyalty programs quietly succeed without anyone noticing. Custom Alerts is the feature that tells you the moment something worth noticing happens.
Find it in your dashboard under Advanced → Custom Alerts.
What it does
You create a trigger — a rule about what you want to know. When a customer does that thing, an alert is created telling you it happened.
The alert carries the useful part: who it was, their email, their mobile number, and which store it happened at. That’s the difference between “somebody earned a reward yesterday” and being able to act on it.
What can trigger an alert
Three things:
A completed card. Someone has filled their card. This is the one most businesses want, because a completed card is the moment your program actually worked and the moment a customer is most pleased with you.
An earned reward. A reward has become available to claim.
A milestone. A specific point along the card — you set the number. “Tell me when someone reaches five stamps” is a different and often better signal than waiting for ten, because it identifies people who are engaged but not yet finished.
Getting alerts by email
A trigger can send its alert to email addresses you nominate, so it doesn’t only live in the dashboard. That’s what makes it useful to a manager who isn’t logged in all day, or to a shared inbox the whole counter can see.
You can list more than one address. Alerts respect the timezone set on the trigger, so overnight events don’t arrive stamped with yesterday’s date.
Why bother — three things people actually do with it
Congratulate people in person. Knowing someone just completed their card while they’re still at the counter turns a transaction into a moment. This is the highest-value use and it costs nothing.
Catch your best customers early. A milestone alert at five stamps tells you who is on the way to becoming a regular. That’s a much better moment to say something than after they’ve already finished.
Know your program is alive. If alerts stop arriving, something has gone quiet — a device not being used, a store not stamping, staff who have forgotten. Silence is information, and without alerts you don’t get it until you go looking at reports.
Turning them off
Triggers have a status, so one can be switched off without deleting it. Worth doing if a busy store is generating more alerts than anyone reads — an alert nobody opens is worse than none, because it teaches people to ignore the next one.
